Privacy Policy — MessagesPrivate
VAREUP (“VAREUP”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates MessagesPrivate, an Android SMS and MMS messaging application.
This Privacy Policy explains what information MessagesPrivate may access, how that information is used, what information may be processed by third-party service providers, and the choices available to users.
MessagesPrivate is designed primarily as an on-device messaging application. We do not operate a VAREUP cloud messaging service that stores or synchronizes the contents of your SMS or MMS conversations.
1. Information MessagesPrivate Accesses
SMS and MMS messages
MessagesPrivate may access SMS and MMS information, including message content, sender or recipient information, message status, and related messaging data, when required to provide its core messaging functionality.
This access allows MessagesPrivate to display conversations, send and receive messages, manage message notifications, and perform other messaging functions available through the application.
SMS and MMS information is processed on your Android device and through the Android SMS/MMS system. MessagesPrivate does not upload the contents of your SMS or MMS conversations to VAREUP servers for storage.
Contacts
If you grant contact access, MessagesPrivate may read contact information such as names, phone numbers, and contact photos so that the application can identify contacts and display them in the messaging interface.
Contact information accessed by MessagesPrivate is used for the application’s messaging functionality and is not sold by VAREUP or uploaded to VAREUP servers for contact-list storage.
SIM and subscription information
MessagesPrivate may access relevant SIM or subscription information when necessary to support devices with multiple SIM cards and allow the user to select the SIM used for sending a message.
This information is used for messaging functionality and is not used by VAREUP to create a separate database of users’ SIM information.
Notifications
MessagesPrivate may use Android notification functionality to notify you about incoming messages and other messaging-related events. Depending on the device and application settings, notifications may provide actions such as replying to or marking a message as read.
App lock and privacy features
MessagesPrivate may provide app-lock, private-chat, hidden-chat, PIN, biometric authentication, and related privacy features.
Information required to operate these features is stored locally on the device. Your app-lock PIN is not sent to VAREUP.
The exact storage and protection mechanism may depend on the Android security facilities and secure-storage components used by the application.
2. Advertising and Google Mobile Ads
MessagesPrivate uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display advertising within the application.
Depending on the user’s location, consent choices, device settings, and applicable advertising requirements, Google and its advertising partners may process information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, approximate location derived from IP address, ad interaction information, and other information required to provide, measure, prevent fraud in, and improve advertising services.
MessagesPrivate does not intentionally send the contents of SMS or MMS messages, contact lists, or users’ app-lock PINs to Google for advertising personalization.
Advertising personalization and consent choices may vary depending on applicable laws and the user’s choices.

3. Consent and Privacy Choices
Where required by applicable law, MessagesPrivate may present privacy and consent choices before certain advertising or data-processing activities occur.
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, applicable Google consent mechanisms may be used to obtain and manage consent for advertising-related processing.
Your privacy choices may affect whether personalized advertising or other forms of advertising are available to you.
Where provided by the application or Google consent mechanism, you may revisit or change applicable privacy choices through the available privacy or consent settings.
4. Analytics and Diagnostic Services
MessagesPrivate may use third-party analytics or diagnostic services to understand application performance, stability, usage patterns, and technical problems.
If such services are enabled in a particular version of the application, those services may process information such as device information, application version, operating-system information, diagnostic information, and information about application interactions.
Analytics and diagnostic services are not intended to receive the contents of your SMS or MMS conversations, your contact list, or your app-lock PIN.
5. Information We Do Not Sell
VAREUP does not sell your SMS or MMS message content, contact list, phone numbers, or app-lock PIN to third parties.
We do not use the contents of your SMS or MMS conversations for advertising targeting.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
MessagesPrivate may use third-party services necessary to operate, secure, analyze, distribute, or monetize the application.
These services may include Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), Google’s consent management technology, and other technical services included in the application.
Third-party providers may process information according to their own privacy policies and applicable contractual and legal requirements.
7. Data Storage and Retention
SMS and MMS messages are stored and managed through Android’s messaging system according to the device’s configuration and the permissions and role granted to MessagesPrivate.
VAREUP does not maintain a VAREUP server-side archive of your SMS or MMS conversations.
Local application settings, privacy settings, and information required for app-lock functionality may remain on the device until they are changed, cleared, or the application is uninstalled.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by MessagesPrivate and use Android security and application security mechanisms where appropriate.
However, no electronic storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should also protect their Android device with appropriate device security, such as a screen lock and current security updates.
9. Permissions
MessagesPrivate may request permissions required for its core messaging functionality, including permissions related to SMS/MMS, contacts, notifications, and SIM/subscription information.
SMS-related permissions are required for the application to perform its core SMS functionality and, where applicable, MessagesPrivate must be registered as the device’s default SMS application for Android to permit the relevant functionality.
You can review and manage available application permissions through Android’s system settings. Restricting a required permission may prevent some features from working.
10. Children’s Privacy
MessagesPrivate is not directed to children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly use MessagesPrivate to collect personal information from children under 13 for advertising or other purposes prohibited by applicable law.
11. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights concerning personal information, including rights relating to access, deletion, correction, restriction, objection, or other privacy choices.
Many of the information sources used by MessagesPrivate, including SMS, MMS, and contacts, are stored on your Android device and can be managed through Android’s system controls.
You may also control advertising personalization through available Android, Google, and MessagesPrivate privacy settings.
12. Data Deletion
MessagesPrivate does not maintain a VAREUP cloud account containing your SMS or MMS conversations.
Local application data can generally be removed through Android’s application settings or by uninstalling the application, subject to Android’s handling of SMS/MMS data and any data maintained by other applications or system services.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to MessagesPrivate, applicable laws, or the services used by the application.
